Dash Of Kindness 2014 - The Unsung Heroes Edition

An interactive 3-hour 'Mission' game to promote spontaneous acts of kindness

Dash of Kindness 2014 - The Unsung Heroes Edition

National identity has been reported missing by unknown yet reliable sources! National Identity has been the pride of Singapore, and its disappearance poses a great threat to the stability and emotional health of the people of Singapore. It is unclear who will be held responsible for the disappearance, but it is certain the repercussions will be kept to the minimum if it can be found in 3 hours. The CID is recruiting you, our elite "one of the kind" special undercover agents, to investigate the disappearance of the National Identity. If you choose to accept this mission, the race is against time to restore the National Identity before it is gone...forever.

Sign up as an individual or with your family/friends to solve this case on 3rd August 2014!

Suitable for age 7 and up. Children below age 12 is advised to be accompanied by adults. A simple parental consent form needs to be filled up for participants age 18 and below.

*Note: We might need to combine groups to make teams of 6.

The race will start promptly at 2pm and end at 5pm. Participants are required to report at least half an hour before the start of the race. Prize presentation and token of participation will be given out at 6pm. There will be a fun-filled family carnival ongoing from 11am to 7pm.

1. What is DoK(Dash of Kindness)?

2. Why the 'Unsung Heroes edition' this year?

We came across Singapore: Unsung Heroes through social media and was immediately intrigued by what they are doing. They aim to feature ordinary people and their extraordinary acts of kindness. Hence, this year Dash of Kindness is partnering them to bring you a bigger and better DoK race and carnival!

Our race will feature the 5 unsung heroes: Bob Lee, Fion Phua Tee Up, Oh Siew May, The cat lady and Nick Shen Weijun.

3. When/What time is the race/carnival? What is the layout of the race?

Our race cum carnival will be held on 3rd August, Sunday. Registration for the race will begin at 1pm. The actual race will be from 2pm to 5pm, while the carnival will be from 11am to 7pm.

This is a mission-based race. We are expecting 500 participants, grouped into teams of 6, each facilitated by a volunteer facilitator. There are five main landmarks in the Bishan precinct which teams must visit in order to qualify for Top 3.

Additionally, each team will receive a Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) card, which states 100 RAK with varying levels of difficulty and the corresponding number of “hearts”. The teams have to fulfil the requirements of the RAK during the course of completing the 5 challenges. The Top 3 qualifying teams with the most number of hearts will win cash prizes (or equivalent). The participants of the winning group will also receive a Nikon COOLPIX camera each, sponsored by Nikon.

4. How can you participate?

We are looking for both participants and facilitators. For the former, please sign up individually/ as a pair/ as a team of six at http://dok2014.peatix.com. You can also sign up as a facilitator at the website.

5. Who can participate?

We welcome participation from all ages, and highly recommend anyone from age 7 years and up. Dash of Kindness 2013 saw participation across all ages, but was most popular among students and youths. This year, we are targeting families and youths/ corporations as this is a good team bonding platform, or simply a good way to relax and have fun.

Do note though that children below 12 are advised to be accompanied by adults and participants below 18 need to submit a simple parental consent form.

Hope this clears up some of your queries. Please feel free to contact us: runofthekind@gmail.com if you have more questions. See you all at DOK 2014!
